the Exhibition

Designed as an immersive journey behind the scenes of the Maisons d’art of le19M, the exhibition Mains d’avenir showcases the rich savoir-faire and diversity of trades that bring these exceptional practices to life. From embroidery designers to hatters, from shoemakers to couturiers, from flower makers to fashion jewellers, it highlights the techniques, tools, and stages of creation, from design to production.

Conceived as both an educational and sensory journey, the exhibition provides an immersive experience into the heart of nine resident Maisons d’art of le19M: Atelier Montex, Desrues, ERES, Goossens, Lemarié, Lesage, Maison Michel, Massaro, and Paloma. It showcases the precision of their savoir-faire and the diversity of techniques that are used in their unique creations.

During the Mains d’avenir exhibition, la Galerie du 19M invites visitors from the age of 10 to discover the art of embroidery by contributing to the New York skyline—the famous horizon of “the city that never sleeps.”

Conceived by the embroidery house Atelier Montex, this collaborative workshop invites everyone to participate, bead by bead, in bringing the silhouettes of Manhattan’s skyscrapers to life.

Free (booking required)

As part of the Mains d’avenir programme, la Galerie du 19M invites visitors from the age of 4 to discover textile creation with the Maison d’art Paloma.
During this workshop, participants experiment with a textile assemblage inspired by chain mail, creating garlands in delicate shades, ranging from sea green to powder pink. Finished with hand embroidery, these collaborative creations adorn the central structure of the exhibition, transforming it into a living installation.

Mains d’avenir, the 19M career days

From 6 to 7 June 2026, le19M presents the fourth Mains d’avenir two-day event dedicated to discovering the Métiers d’art of fashion and decoration.

At the heart of this programme, the skills of artisans and their career paths are highlighted through demonstrations, talks with experts, discussions with training institutions, and panel discussions led by journalists from Le Monde.

Designed as an opportunity for knowledge-sharing, these two days aim to inspire future careers and encourage people to consider a career change.
