les Lignes de la Main - Podcast le19M

In this new episode, we follow the lines of the hand of Shinichiro Ogata, designer, architect, restaurateur, and founder of the SIMPLICITY studio.

Born in Nagasaki, in the Kyushu region, he draws on Japan’s cultural heritage and his personal history to create works at the intersection of design, craftsmanship, and cuisine. Through gesture, tea, objects, and places, he constructs a sensitive and committed worldview, where every detail has meaning.

Shinichiro Ogata recently served on the Editorial Committee of la Galerie du 19M Tokyo (30 September–20 October 2025), where he notably designed the pop-up shop and tea bar, thereby extending his exploration of gesture and art de vivre. After the Tokyo exhibition, la Galerie du 19M in Paris hosts a new chapter of this encounter between France and Japan from January 2026, allowing the public to discover first-hand the exchanges and collaborations between French and Japanese artisans.

Through this exchange, he reflects on the central role of the hands in his work, on movement, the right gesture, and on how beauty can become a bridge between cultures.
