[The Lines of the Hand]
Episode 7 – Géraldine, floral technician at Maison Lemarié
In this new episode, we follow the lines of Géraldine’s hand, a floral technician at Maison Lemarié, one of the resident Maisons d’art at le19M.
A former orchestral musician who became a craftsperson after retraining in her forties, she has successfully transferred the rhythm, precision, and sensitivity of music to the delicate world of flowers and textiles.
Today, Géraldine Levrangi opens the doors to Maison Lemarié’s floral workshop, where the iconic camellias of Maison CHANEL are created. Géraldine speaks of collective work, the passing on of skills across generations, the precision of hands that “see” and feel the material, but also the beauty of the time required for each creation.
From music to thread, from embroidery to flowers, she recounts how her hands have always guided her life, and how, at the heart of Maison Lemarié, every petal becomes the result of a meeting between patience, high standards, and emotion.
les Lignes de la Main (The Lines of the Hand) is a podcast series that explores the intimate relationship between creators and their hands.
By returning to the essence of the gesture—that of the hand as the central tool of creation—this series of conversations highlights the work of the artisans and experts at the Maisons d’art of le19M, as well as talented creators who explore the role of the hand in the creative process.
Conceived as a reflection on creativity and the passing on of skills, this podcast gives a voice to those who shape materials.
A podcast produced for le19M by Géraldine Sarratia, directed by Guillaume Girault.
