Murmuration, a participatory workshop proposed by Aristide and the Maison Lesage

To mark the centenary of the Lesage embroidery House, Aristide Barraud is presenting Mumuration, a monumental, travelling, and evolving work.

To mark the centenary of the Maison Lesage, Aristide (Barraud) has created Murmuration, a monumental embroidered work in three movements, like a co-created symphony inspired by the migratory and collective phenomena of starlings.

Every winter, thousands of starlings migrate to warmer shores in Europe, creating perfectly synchronised ballets in the sky. Through this textile work, made up of hundreds of starlings embroidered on organza by thousands of pairs of hands, from Marseille to Dakar and from Venice to Paris, the artist aims to question this natural phenomenon of collective symbiosis in the light of an increasingly fragmented society, and invites visitors into a state of contemplation.

Embroidery on drawing with Maison Lesage

Laurent Poleo-Garnier and Maison Lesage join forces for this embroidery on drawing workshop.

Conceived as a space for dialogue with participants about their relationship to fashion and clothing, this workshop will combine drawing and embroidery. Laurent Poleo-Garnier invites participants to sketch on paper a memory, an icon, an accessory, a look, or an attitude. Guided by the artist, this drawing sequence will be followed by a time to discover embroidery on paper, with the craftsmen from Maison Lesage.

Participants will take their embroidered drawing home with them.
