Much more than just an accessory, a hat creates a look, transforms an attitude, and affirms an identity. Throughout the ages, it has served as a social marker, a sign of belonging, a gesture of emancipation, and a medium for artistic expression.

This discussion, moderated by Marc Beaugé,the editor-in-chief of L’Étiquette, invites you to explore the symbolic power of headwear: how it shapes our relationship with our bodies and with the gaze of others; how it runs through the worlds of fashion, cinema, the stage, and the street; and how it enables us to reinvent ourselves.

Following the talk, the public is invited to discover the exhibition Metamorphoses: Hats by Maison Michel during an evening session and to enjoy food and drinks at le Café du 19M.

Full list of participants for the talk to be announced shortly

About

L’Étiquette – Magazine

The first issue of L’Étiquette was published in October 2018. Aimed at French men, the magazine prides itself on being unlike any other fashion magazine. Rather than focusing on catwalk shows and inaccessible collections, it takes an interest in clothing and its culture. L’Étiquette alternates between fashion features, short columns, and long-form articles, all produced independently to high journalistic standards. An approach that it has remained faithful to over the years.

In May 2023, L’Étiquette launched its women’s edition. With the same values and expertise as the men’s edition, but with an all-female team, this edition is also committed to championing clothing and its culture.
