[The Programme] Beyond Our Horizons: from Tokyo to Paris.
Episode 2
From 29 January to 26 April 2026, la Galerie du 19M presents Beyond Our Horizons: from Tokyo to Paris. Following a first formative instalment in Tokyo, this second chapter marks the exhibition’s return to Paris in a version reimagined for a new space and a new audience.
A shift in scale and perspective: some works remain in Japan, others appear for the first time, and a dozen new artists enrich this dialogue between artistic craftsmanship and the contemporary art scenes of France and Japan.
In this episode, we follow this transformation alongside Aska Yamashita, artistic director of Atelier Montex and member of the editorial committee. An opportunity to explore the dialogues between materials and techniques: from the intricate work of konomaki to variations on floral motifs—printed by Koh Kado using the karakami technique and rendered in three-dimensional form by the artisans of Lemarié—via the installation by Thomas Takada and Goossens, which blends gilded brass and mulberry leaves.
A podcast produced by Géraldine Sarratia, directed by Guillaume Girault, alongside the exhibition Beyond our Horizons: from Tokyo to Paris presented at la Galerie du 19M.
