Beyond Our Horizons: From Tokyo to Paris
at the Galerie du 19M

On Sunday, May 10, Beyond Our Horizons: From Tokyo to Paris closed its doors after more than three months on view.

Presented since January 29, following a highly acclaimed first edition in Japan, the exhibition celebrated the creative dialogue between Japanese and French artisans and designers, highlighting the richness of exchanges between two cultures deeply rooted in craftsmanship and creation.

The exhibition brought together exceptional works born from collaborations between artists, artisans, and the resident craft Maisons of the 19M. Invited to extend this creative dialogue, contemporary artists and designers also presented their own interpretations of natural elements through sculptures, ceramics, and light installations. Together, these works reflected living savoir-faire in constant evolution, where tradition fuels experimentation and contemporary creation.

True to its commitment to supporting emerging creative talent, the Galerie du 19M also presented a vibrant, participatory public program inspired by Japanese craftsmanship. Throughout the exhibition, visitors and families were invited to discover and practice a range of artisanal techniques through workshops dedicated to paper marbling and the making of traditional wind chimes.

This spirit of transmission was also embodied in a collaborative work conceived by the embroidery Maison Atelier Montex and artist Sébastien Desplat. Several hundred visitors contributed to this collective creation, transforming the exhibition into a space for encounter, exchange, and hands-on engagement with the arts and crafts.
