Kenia Almaraz Murillo, one of the participating artists in the exhibition Trouver son monde, invites young audiences to discover her textile practice through the creation of fantastical animal figures.

This echoes her work around myths and their use in her embroidery pieces made from carnival costumes.

Programme

On a textile canvas, children are invited to compose a figure using materials from the tradition of Bolivian carnival costumes. After assembling the elements, participants will glue the materials into the shape of an animal (snake, lizard, ant, etc.) to design their mythical creature. Kenia will teach them simple embroidery stitches so they can embellish their creations with beads and rhinestones from the Maisons d’art du 19M.

Participants will take home the painting representing their fantastical figure.
