Sketches of Memories by Kiala Ogawa
A Japanese-Congolese composer, producer, and pianist based in Paris, Kiala Ogawa has developed a world of electronic, acoustic, and experimental music. Accompanied by three musicians, the Sketches of Memories performance takes the form of a sound laboratory, bringing to life moments from Kiala’s childhood in Japan. Each piece sketches an intimate memory of a landscape, a sensation, or a familiar atmosphere.
With: Thibaud Merle, flute and bass clarinet; Joachim Baumerder, violin, viola; Kiala Ogawa, keyboards; Sébastien Forrester: percussion.
Solo by pianist Koki Nakano with Alice Godfrey
On stage, the Fukuoka-born piano prodigy Koki Nakano blends his classical sensibilities with more contemporary sounds. As a composer, he is not afraid of ambiguity, but his music rarely indulges in provocative contrasts, a disposition that can be explained by his culture and upbringing in Japan, a country that cultivates a tradition of moderation and balance. Inspired by the movement of the body, he has collaborated with many internationally acclaimed choreographers and given concerts and recitals in prestigious venues around the world. He is performing with dancer Alice Godfrey.
