Monumental workshop Free
L'Été Ornementa 16 9

la Galerie du 19M is reopening Ornementa from 27 June to 20 July, in a revamped summer version. Open to all, this new season has a particular focus on children and toddlers, who are invited to discover the world of savoir-faire through a playful and immersive programme.

This summer version also has a festive dimension, with a programme of outdoor performances and workshops on la Parcelle.

the Summer Programme

l’Été Ornementa invites visitors of all ages to discover the world of the Métiers d’art through a series of fun and immersive workshops (no booking required):

  • the Participatory Fresco
    XXL colouring-in workshop

In Clémentine Sourdais’ workshop, participants will collaborate to colour-in a giant drawing.
Add your colours to the Maisons d’art du 19M and bring to life this collective fresco, conceived as an “exquisite corpse”: a work in constant evolution, augmented by spontaneous gestures, shout-outs, or thanks...

  • the Library

Postcard-making workshop

In Jeanne Tresvaux du Fraval’s library, you can make your own holiday souvenirs.
Fold, cut, glue, and write: create your own postcard and envelope to take home or to send out. An invitation to rediscover the art of correspondence.

  • the Cooleurs Game
    l’Espace des tout petits

Hugo Béhérégaray’s game allows participants to create colourful worlds.
Shapes to move around, modules to superimpose, rules to invent: a joyful, tactile playground for experimentation, complete with an XXL trunk full of games to choose from.

  • At the Beach
    Weaving Workshop

At the beach with Delphine Dénéréaz, you can learn to weave using the lirette technique.
Using textile off-cuts, learn to embroider a collective seascape of waves and coral.

An evolving work in which each gesture weaves a form of connection.

  • Under the Parasol
    Passementerie workshop

Under Amine Habki’s parasol, you can learn to braid, knot, and decorate.
Make your own textile tieback using wool, string, and a bead, and learn the traditional techniques of passementerie.

  • the Woven Garden
Weaving and textile creation workshop using felt

In Clémentine Pellegrin’s garden, weave labyrinths and plant felt flowers.
This two-tiered workshop is open to young children, with a weaving trail; and to older participants, with the creation of a plant fresco with textile shapes.

  • In the Ornementa workshop
Ornementa Panels and LA CAGE charm bracelets

On the Ornementa panels, the public is invited to learn about the skills of le19M and explore behind the scenes of contemporary creation and the Métiers d’art.
At the same time, the LA CAGE duo invite visitors to make a charm bracelet redesigned for summer, using swimwear materials recovered from the stock of the Réserve des Arts de la Parcelle.

  • the Souvenir Photo

Pose with sea creatures in Marianna Ladreyt’s inflated decor.
Seashells, killer whales, and manta rays all become part of a funny and sweet souvenir to capture, alone or with family or friends.

  • the Beach Cabin
    Immersive sound experience

In Lola Favre’s cabin, you can hear the sea.
Close your eyes and let the sounds lull you to sleep... A sound bubble in the heart of the city, to escape to other shores for a few moments.

  • the Theatre of Funny Faces
    Open-air play area

Pablo Grand Mourcel’s theatre is a place to pull faces, play, and hide.
Enter a world where you can interact with benevolent creatures, funny monsters, and shapes made of canvas and wood to be activated freely.

  • the Hammock
    Installation

The result of an encounter between artist Andrea Moreno and Atelier Montex artistic director Aska Yamashita, this original composition of terracotta rings and elements embroidered with woven bracelets, beads, chenille and sequins reinterprets the curtain as a hammock, an everyday object in Venezuela. An invitation to laze around during the Été Ornementa.

All workshops are free and open to the public, Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 6.30pm.
