Using a selection of images from the Maison Lesage archives, magazines, and fashion shows, participants are invited to design a scrapbook, exploring the history of the famous embroidery and weaving house.
The presence of an adult is mandatory throughout the entire session (1 adult for every 2 children).
la Galerie du 19M - Paris/Aubervilliers
For more details, refer to the practical information
Each child will be given a notebook in which to paste sources of inspiration, write, draw, and visually shape their Lesage story. Designed as a research project made up of scraps of material, magazine images, and texts, the notebook will document the creative process, just as an art director does.
Participants will be encouraged to draw, with colouring templates (necklaces, flowers, and accessories), and will take their own personalised notebook home with them.
Laurent Poleo-Garnier
In 2021, Laurent Poleo-Garnier, the winner of the 19M endowment for Artistic Craft Photography from the Picto Foundation, was invited to explore the workshops at Maison Lesage, where he documented the daily lives of the embroiderers at work. This gave rise to the Face à Face project, combining photography, drawing, and embroidery, in which the stories of the Lesage embroiderers become colourful, embroidered frescoes exhibited at la Galerie du 19M. Since then, he has explored performance through cross-dressing happenings connected to his photographic practice.
