For this workshop, artist Nina Jayasuriya, one of the participating artists in the exhibition Trouver son monde, invites young people to learn about her textile practice by designing a T-shirt with a message and colourful patterns in a fun and intuitive way.

Programme

Children will freely select and assemble typography, symbols, and figures from the global imagination (statues, cartoons, logos, emojis, monuments, etc.) to decorate their T-shirts.

These images, made from heat-activated fabric, will be fixed to the T-shirts using a press.

Each creation will then be embellished with colourful, shiny rhinestones using fabric glue. A joyful approach to visual art and textile design!

Participants will take their decorated T-shirts home with them.

Nina Jayasuriya

Artist

Nina Jayasuriya est née en 1996 à Paris. Elle vit et travaille entre Paris et le Sri Lanka.

La pratique artistique de Nina Jayasuriya explore les usages du quotidien, la sacralité et les héritages personnels dans une élaboration continue de récits intimes et de mythologies domestiques. À travers des installations mêlant céramique, textile, objets détournés et matériaux récupérés, elle compose des environnements sensibles où se rejouent des tensions entre profane et sacré, tradition et mutation, soin et chaos.

Diplômée des Beaux-Arts de Paris en 2023 avec les félicitations du jury, elle reçoit le Prix Sisley en 2024. Elle a récemment exposé dans plusieurs expositions collectives, dont Temps Z à la galerie Mennour (Paris, 2024), Ailleurs est ce rêve proche au Magasin CNAC (Grenoble, 2023), et Autohistorias au Palais des Beaux-Arts (Paris, 2023).
