Created in 1993 by Jean-Francois Lesage, Patrick Savouret, Malavika Shivakumar, and Sandeep Rao, Vastrakala’s aim was, from the very start, to design and manufacture high-quality hand embroidery. In the initial years, the company’s activity focussed on embroideries for Interiors, working with decorators, architects, museums, private collectors and public institutions the world over. In the late 90s, Vastrakala added the skills of fine embroidery for fashion to its repertoire, in order to serve the requirements of Lesage Paris, the celebrated embroidery house. Since that time, Vastrakala has made embroideries for the clients of Lesage Paris, acquiring very specific techniques used by the Paris based Maison Lesage. In 2014, Vastrakala became a subsidiary of Maison Lesage. From then on, their exchanges of savoir-faire and expertise have intensified.
