Conceived as a space for dialogue with participants about their relationship to fashion and clothing, this workshop will combine drawing and embroidery. Laurent Poleo-Garnier invites participants to sketch on paper a memory, an icon, an accessory, a look, or an attitude.
Guided by the artist, this drawing sequence will be followed by a time to discover embroidery on paper, with the craftsmen from Maison Lesage.
Participants will take their embroidered drawing home with them.
Laurent Poleo-Garnier
In 2021, Laurent Poleo-Garnier, the winner of the 19M endowment for Artistic Craft Photography from the Picto Foundation, was invited to explore the workshops at Maison Lesage, where he documented the daily lives of the embroiderers at work. This gave rise to the Face à Face project, combining photography, drawing, and embroidery, in which the stories of the Lesage embroiderers become colourful, embroidered frescoes exhibited at la Galerie du 19M. Since then, he has explored performance through cross-dressing happenings connected to his photographic practice.
